So, I bowl in a 5-pin league on Sunday nights in Regina (its about an hour away -- me and my brother bowl in a league there instead of at home because the alley here is
very crappy. And I mean it.), and well, some things happened. You'll doubt if they're really that "historic" or not, though.
First thing
Oh my, a pop radio station in Regina played Gangnam Style as their "under the radar" track on the provincial top 30 countdown! And then I promptly switched back to the radio app on my phone because aside from that, it promptly went back to the same old crap they usually play. While it was a pretty good treat, PSY is quickly becoming one of the most overrated k-pop acts in my opinion just because of that one song (talking to you, last night on SNL). Which is great; since soon people will look at other k-pop acts that also deserve some recognition (i.e. 2NE1, Bigbang, etc.) since they will now be relatively less overrated!
Second thing
Someone else (not me) actually managed to
almost get a perfect game. Now, just so you're aware, 5-pin bowling is primarily a Canadian thing (like bagged milk and
The Red Green Show) and is a little different (smaller balls, and well, only 5 pins - scored 2-3-5-3-2 instead of just 1 per pin.
Typically on strings.), and thus a perfect game is 450 instead of 300. But still, its quite hard to achieve. This player (who was on the same pair of lanes as me) managed to get 10 out of the 12 strikes needed to get a perfect game. Then he promptly choked on the 2nd ball of the 10th frame (yes, you still get 3 guaranteed balls in the 10th like in 10-pin).
It was still a pretty amazing sight, and everyone (despite the league organizer saying they were going to try and stop people from having phones out in-game) was promptly snapping pictures of the scoreboard monitor after the game, so you knew it was pretty significant.
And well, RoI needs a red team leader too. Note me if you're interested
