Yeah; I guess Notch wasn't kidding when he said that he would only sell his company for at least $2 billion.

I didn't think that this particular indie game would evolve into such an overrated, over-commercialized mess. At least the 13 year olds of our generation finally got an alternative to Call of Duty thanks to Minecraft. As if recent events had caused enough of a rift in their community to begin with...

On a related note, why did Microsoft buy it now for crying out loud? It's a little too late if you wanted to buy it at its cultural peak; personally, I think that this is just the nail in the coffin, if there weren't already several nails. Everyone already owns it; it's like Windows, except Microsoft didn't buy Windows from an independent developer. They built it themselves, and made a legend.
