Wave Rider

Edit: TM V version; it's mainly the same except it's using the Movie vector style now and his suit got some upgrades.

Finally, done all the refs for Obscurus's sidekicks. This is Wave Rider; he's a pegasus with an interest in sound engineering, and is the resident techie of the group. He would probably try to out-cyberpunk Sun Beamer whenever possible.

Wave Rider flew up (literally) from his hometown of Belgianham to study music production at the University of Seaddle. It was also where he met his best friend Train Spot, who was also studying music-related topics. About one fifth of the dorm they eventually shared was filled with analog synthesizers and other audio equipment, and they also made it a tradition to go on a concert "tour" over the summer break, where they went to events featuring their favorite musicians, and even himself on a few occasions, in order to introduce her to the world of techno and gain some prominence among the underground music fans. It worked. The following winter break, Wave Rider also began to teach Train Spot about how he produced music.

Obscurus Noctis, who was a fellow opening act at several of the local concerts he played (and in one case, the headlining act proper), felt that he had promise, and signed Wave Rider to her personal record label. At the same time, she also showed an interest in his friend Train Spot, after Wave showed her a research paper that examined why "underground" electronic music acts were not successfully appealing to those who were fans of the "mainstream" variety. Train Spot was hired to serve as an "analyst" and an "inside mare" in the world of mainstream dance music for further scientific "research" - which consisted of her releasing cliche-sounding music co-produced by Wave Rider just to see how bad things would have to be before others started hating it. It backfired spectacularly when everypony else actually liked it, after which Obscurus declared "war" on mainstream dance music.

Personality

+ Inventive/Resourceful: In the right situations, Wave Rider can take a few random objects or ideas, and actually make something useful from them. Obscurus is legitimately scared at times when he does this, even though his creations have only blown up in his face twice since he joined.

+ Self-sufficient: These skills may also be useful in situations where he has to fend for himself.

+ Persuasive: Good at convincing people to do/try certain things, if he is able to iron out exactly what he wanted them to do, that is (see below).

+ Venturesome: He got it from Train Spot. It's led to some unconventional gigs here and there.

(Neutral) Frugal: He goes to recycling depots and thrift stores a lot to collect up random electronics parts.

- Pedantic, long-winded: Sometimes he gets a little too technical when explaining things.

- Procrastinator: Although he still has a good track record of getting things done, sometimes he may be distracted by other pet projects, such as his music and costume design.

- Indecisive: Sometimes, he has trouble absolutely, positively making up his mind.
